The popular metaverse project, The Sandbox, organized its first Global Creators Day event on November 3rd. During this event, company officials announced their plans to empower developers and reach the user-generated 2,000 experience universe on The Sandbox map. According to the details revealed at the event, the metaverse universe consists of over 200 developer studios, 130,000 developers, and 24,000 LAND owners.
The Sandbox Announces Three Launches
Thirty percent of The Sandbox’s five million user accounts are located in Asia, which is why co-founders Arthur Madrid and Sebastien Borget chose Hong Kong for the company’s first Global Creators Day event. Alongside the co-founders, Chief Content Officer Nicola Sebastiani and Director of the Creator Ecosystem Mathieu Cervety were also present. Three major launches, focused on user-generated content to empower developers in the ecosystem, were announced:
“Starting today, LAND owners will be able to publish their completed experiences on the Sandbox Map and make it instant by removing the initial submission process. This update fully opens up the metaverse universe on the platform. This development aims to accelerate user-generated content to unleash the creative potential of game makers on the platform.”
The upcoming 0.9 version of the Game Maker, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023, will include a free and codeless update for The Sandbox. This update will further simplify content creation, offering players more captivating functionality and introducing new game mechanics and social interactions.
Stimulus for Players: SAND Tokens
Additionally, 100 million SAND tokens have been allocated for game developers. The game fund has provided a $10 million budget to support over 200 projects. Starting from 2024, an additional $100 million worth of SAND will be added to the fund. Not only content but also interactions within the platform will be rewarded through a DAO-based selection system.
Nicola Sebastiani, Chief Content Officer of The Sandbox, stated that this initiative encourages exciting experiences for players and represents a step towards content creators. Sebastani also commented:
“We value experiences. We value the worlds you build, the stories you weave, and the adventures you design.”
