Ripple Labs Inc.’s developers have recently launched a meme token contest as part of their year-end community engagement efforts. The open developer platform of the XRP Ledger, RippleX, has initiated a unique and fun program called the builtonXRPL Challenge for developers and community members. This initiative adds humor and creativity to the community and gives participants the chance to win a trip to the Apex Developer Summit.
Meme Token Contest
This event encourages developers to showcase their projects by creating meme tokens that include the builtonXRPL badge. RippleX actively supports the challenge by urging developers to submit their best meme tokens before the deadline. Ripple Developers’ call aims to highlight the community’s spirit and solidarity, aiming to conclude 2023 in a memorable way.
While the meme token contest brings joy to the community, the underlying technology powering Ripple and the XRP Ledger experienced significant growth and success throughout the year. On December 30th, the XRP Ledger reached an all-time high by processing 6.8 million transactions in a single day. This milestone surpassed the previous record set in November 2021 of approximately 5 million transactions per day, underscoring the increasing adoption and scalability of the XRP Ledger.
Statement from Ripple
November also marked another milestone with leading firm Bishop Fox conducting individual audits on the XRP Ledger for both the XLS-38 bridge and the EVM sidechain. Looking towards 2024, RippleX’s Chief Technology Officer Joel Schwartz shared insightful content about the future in his report titled “RippleX 2024: A Visionary Look at the Future of Blockchain”.
A particularly exciting development provided by the cross-chain bridge is the introduction of an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible sidechain. Developed in collaboration with Ripple and Peersyst, this sidechain establishes a vital connection between the XRP Ledger and the Ethereum ecosystem. One of the key highlights is the anticipated cross-chain bridge amendment for the XRP Ledger, which is expected to enter the voting process in 2024. This amendment represents a significant step forward in interoperability and collaboration in the blockchain space.
