Arbitrum ecosystem is rapidly growing in the cryptocurrency world, but ARB tokens struggle to gain expected value. In the current structure, governance power remains the primary demand source for ARB, but there are many new sources on the supply side, such as lockups and treasury expenditures. This situation calls for a more robust and integrated solution to increase the value of ARB tokens.
Revealing the True Potential of Governance Power
Governance power is the heart of a protocol. However, only 10% of ARB token holders actively participate in governance. This low participation rate leaves the Arbitrum DAO vulnerable to potential threats. For example, the $16 million worth of ETH accumulated in the DAO treasury is an attractive target for a malicious attacker. Therefore, a solution is needed to enhance the governance power of ARB tokens and strengthen defense mechanisms against this danger.
An ARB staking proposal is being introduced to protect and develop the Arbitrum ecosystem. This system will offer ARB holders the opportunity to earn a share of future rewards generated by the DAO if they authorize active governance participants. This not only increases governance power but also makes ARB stakable again and DeFi-compatible. Especially with the stARB token, users can automatically accumulate rewards and maintain governance participation.
What Does the Roadmap Include?
A specific roadmap needs to be followed for the implementation of this staking system. This process, initiated in June, will advance with significant steps in August and September. In October, the full implementation of ARB staking is planned. During this process, $200,000 worth of ARB funds will be allocated for the development, auditing of ARB staking smart contracts, and the integration of the DAO’s governance powers into this new system.
ARB staking stands out as a critical step to ensure the security and sustainability of the Arbitrum ecosystem. This system will contribute to both the value appreciation of ARB tokens and the regaining of governance power by the Arbitrum DAO.
