The cryptocurrency sector’s Arbitrum Foundation, aiming to step beyond its current scope, has announced a collaboration with both the popular NFT brand Azuki and the Weeb3 Foundation to create a web3 network appealing to anime fans.
Arbitrum and Azuki Partnership Announcement
According to a joint statement, this partnership aims to “launch the next phase of anime fandom by utilizing web3 technology to improve the anime experience for millions worldwide, including first and third-party anime content, games, merchandise, and NFTs.”
The companies have named this venture AnimeChain. Nina Rong, head of ecosystem development at the Arbitrum Foundation, made the following statement:
With the most advanced blockchain scaling technology, Arbitrum will empower AnimeChain to redefine the anime experience for fans and content creators globally.
Earlier this month, the Arbitrum Foundation announced plans to invest 200 million ARB (currently valued at 344 million dollars) over two years to elevate gaming projects on the blockchain to a new level.
Additionally, the Arbitrum Foundation announced it would finance a feature-length film produced by Oscar-winner Shane Boris.
The Arbitrum Foundation continues to support the Ethereum Layer-2 network, Arbitrum.
Web3 and the Anime Market
The statement mentioned that anime fans in web3 have been experiencing a “fragmented journey” so far. Moreover, the global anime industry is expected to rise to a level of 60 billion dollars by 2030, making it one of the fastest-growing stakeholders in the global entertainment sector.
Azuki CEO Zagabond commented on the matter: We are proud to be the initial launch partner for AnimeChain, which will provide a new approach to creating and consuming anime IP.
In recent years, Azuki has emerged as one of the most talked-about NFT projects in the market, brought to life by Los Angeles-based technology company Chiru Labs. Weeb3 Foundation has been indicated as the developer of AnimeChain.
While all these developments were taking place, eyes were on the price of Arbitrum (ARB). At the time of writing, the ARB price was trading at 1.6753 dollars.
