Zero-knowledge proof utilizing blockchain protocols can optimize encryption technology with a new open-source GPU acceleration framework. The decentralized Web3 data service Space and Time recently announced that its newly developed graphics processing unit (GPU) acceleration framework is open to the broader Web3 ecosystem.
A Noteworthy Step in the Blockchain Field
The company’s co-founder and head of research, Jay White, stated that by making their accelerator, Blitzar, open-source, they aim to provide faster, more robust ZK-proofs and also benefit from community improvements in the repository.
White explains that GPU accelerators optimize the performance of ZK-proof production by offloading computationally intensive tasks to GPUs. ZK-proofs are computationally challenging, and hardware acceleration frameworks optimize the process.
Blitzar is specifically designed for GPUs, which are capable of handling heavy computational workloads like ZK-proof production. GPUs also offer an efficient memory structure for processing large datasets, which are a significant component of ZK-proofs. Space and Time’s framework is now open to all projects seeking performance improvements related to multi-scalar multiplication:
“One of the most expensive parts of producing a ZK proof is the multi-scalar multiplication process, which we focused on accelerating with Blitzar.”
Notable Details on the Subject
The Space and Time service provides a Structured Query Language (SQL) programming function for smart contract blockchain networks that use ZK-proof technology. The Proof of SQL ZK-proof tool allows users to trust that a data query within the decentralized data network is correct and has not been tampered with by generating a SNARK cryptographic proof.
Proof of SQL enables decentralized applications (DApps) to run a query in Space and Time’s data warehouse and aggregate the result into a smart contract. Proof of SQL provides efficient and privacy-preserving verified proofs of data without relying on trust.
The technology is configured to provide blockchain services with advanced computing, artificial intelligence, and large language models with on-chain and off-chain data protected against tampering. White adds that Space and Time benefits from NVIDIA GPUs for Proof of SQL and that both ZK-proof and Blitzar development are supported by a partnership with the hardware manufacturer.
