Binance‘s decentralized Blockchain network, BNB Chain, announced Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) as a new solution to support the creation of custom Layer 2 networks on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC). This initiative will provide the necessary infrastructure for developers to create cost-effective private rollups, including the codeless deployment of decentralized applications (dApps) on BSC.
BNB Chain’s RaaS Solution
BSC, the third-largest Blockchain network in terms of total value locked (TVL) according to DeFiLlama, announced the RaaS solution to enable the creation of Layer 2 networks on its platform.
The RaaS solution is part of a strategic move by the BNB Chain core development team to empower developers with a comprehensive toolkit for creating efficient and scalable Layer 2 networks on the BSC network. According to the core development team, developers can leverage the power of RaaS and the ecosystem’s interconnectivity features to innovate and meet the growing market demands.
Within the BNB Chain ecosystem, BSC serves as the primary Layer 1 network compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). The ecosystem is complemented by existing Layer 2 network solutions such as opBNB and zkBNB, and the BNB Greenfield data storage network. BNB Beacon Chain is currently part of the ecosystem, but its features will be phased out after being transferred to BSC.
Integration of Layer 2 Networks
The integration of Layer 2 networks into the BSC network is facilitated by opBNB Connect, designed to promote interoperability within the ecosystem. This initiative follows the broader “One BNB” initiative, which aims to create an integrated technology rollup to meet the ecosystem’s growing need for seamless connectivity and collaboration between different layers.
It is important to note that the introduction of the RaaS solution is part of BNB Chain’s plan to encourage innovation and scalability within its ecosystem. BNB Chain aims to strengthen its position as a leading Blockchain network by providing developers with simplified tools and infrastructure, supporting the development of a wide variety of dApps and solutions on its network.
