Australian scientist and controversial figure in the crypto world, Craig Wright, has resurfaced by filing a new lawsuit against Bitcoin $103,490 Core developers. This legal action comes after Wright claimed that Bitcoin SV (BSV) is the true Bitcoin, igniting considerable debate in the crypto market. The lawsuit follows a previous ruling by the UK High Court that dismissed his claims of being the creator of Bitcoin.

New Lawsuit and Claims

In his latest lawsuit, Craig Wright asserts that Bitcoin SV is the genuine Bitcoin. Filed in the Chancery Division High Court in London, Wright targets Bitcoin Core developers, alleging that modifications such as SegWit and Taproot misrepresent the original Bitcoin, straying from Satoshi Nakamoto’s vision.

Wright seeks £911 billion in damages, arguing that the market capitalization difference between BTC and BSV has negatively impacted BSV’s reputation and market position. This lawsuit follows the COPA V. Wright case, where the court determined that Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin White Paper, additionally rejecting his claims of being Satoshi Nakamoto.

Community Reaction and Market Movements

This lawsuit arrives after other legal proceedings initiated by Craig Wright against Bitcoin Core developers. The complaint, filed on October 10, 2024, alleges a partnership agreement between Bitcoin Core and Square Up Europe Ltd. However, as noted by BitMEX Research, Wright lacks the right to renew his claim of being Satoshi Nakamoto due to a prior injunction.

Today, the price of Bitcoin SV increased by over 3%, reaching $51.23, while trading volume fell to $38.33 million, a 25% decrease. In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin SV hit a peak of $51.91 and a low of $49.31. Additionally, BSV Futures Open Interest rose nearly 5% to $22.21 million.

Craig Wright’s legal actions have faced harsh criticism from the crypto community. Notably, Hodlonaut, a recognized figure in the community, claims that the new lawsuit is built on lies. Hodlonaut previously won a defamation case against Wright.

This skepticism reflects the broader consensus within the crypto community that often dismisses Wright’s claims as unfounded. Wright’s defense of the differentiation between Bitcoin SV and BTC has led to a significant division of opinion within the community.
