Billy Marcus, the former IBM software engineer who created Dogecoin (DOGE) in 2013, the meme token that took the world by storm and paved the way for the memecoin craze, mocked the marketing style embraced by Bitcoin (BTC) enthusiasts.
Billy Marcus Mocks Bitcoin
In an attempt to explain how Bitcoin maximalists promote the leading cryptocurrency, Marcus quoted a statement inviting others to join a group where a BTC maxi introduces the token and refers to others as the “crazy insecure losers group.” Bitcoin maximalists are categorized as BTC supporters who believe that the token is superior to all other assets in the highly diversified crypto ecosystem.
They take an “I’m better than you” approach towards other tokens and refer to them as “s-coins.” One clear example is Max Keiser, who once called for the suspension of operations of major crypto exchanges, which were once labeled as casinos by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Additionally, Keiser, just like SEC Chairman Gary Gensler always does, categorized all altcoins as securities. Judge Analisa Torres, just before ruling that XRP is not a security in July, declared that BTC supporter XRP was “left for dead” and thus it was Gensler’s job to remove it. The SEC seems to be listening to such narratives about cryptocurrencies, as the agency is busy cracking down on the best tokens in the emerging sector.
Dogecoin Founder Denies Bitcoin’s Future
The statement from the DOGE co-founder was a response to a video posted by a crypto Twitter user named Udi Wertheimer. In the short clip, BTC maximalist Robert Breedlove was seen conducting an interview with Jason Lowery, who continued to praise Bitcoin. Lowery stated that BTC is not just a cryptocurrency but instead called it the future of warfare, the future of security, and the future of people who want to protect their data.
The response from the Dogecoin co-founder was as follows:
It is a clear indication that I do not agree with the content of the video; it is a move in line with the innovation perception that limits other tokens and protocols in the industry.
