Google Cloud has added another collaboration in the Web3 space. By integrating Solana with its BigQuery data analytics service, Google Cloud has made it easier to access Solana-based data. With this move, the company has expanded its support to the 20th blockchain network. According to the announcement mentioned at Breakpoint 2022 in Lisbon, the inclusion of Solana in BigQuery aims to provide advanced insights into blockchain network analytics.
Google Cloud and Solana Collaboration
Nalin Mittal, the Web3 lead at Google Cloud, announced that the support for Solana network is expected to go live in the first quarter. Dan Albert, the Executive Director of Solana Foundation, commented on the matter:
“The team at Google Cloud was determined to do this before going live, so they needed more time to complete the data set and gain a comprehensive overview of what is happening on the chain.”
BigQuery is Google Cloud’s serverless data storage platform with built-in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and business intelligence capabilities, allowing users to query large datasets. Dan Albert continued his statements with the following:
“The Solana ecosystem is growing rapidly and generating new innovations, data, and insights every day. With this tremendous growth, there is an increasing need for quick and easy access to the insights and data generated on our network by the Solana community and the wider Web3 industry. We are proud that the Foundation is helping Google Cloud make Solana more accessible, transparent, and open.”
Access to Solana Data
Solana Foundation stated that anyone from developers to businesses and individual users can query data in the Solana ecosystem to answer complex questions about network activities, NFT minting, wallet activities, and more. In addition to BigQuery, the ecosystem also benefits from Google’s distributed data storage service, Bigtable, allowing access to archival data on the Solana network.
Floor, a multichain NFT platform, became one of the first platforms to benefit from Solana integration by sending NFT sales and listing data in the Solana ecosystem to the BigQuery platform. Chris Maddern, CEO of Floor, commented on the matter:
“There is a lot of interesting data that is somewhat off-chain but related to on-chain data and is not easily accessible today.”
