Swerve, a decentralized liquidity exchange pool, is a fork from Curve. Similar to Curve, it primarily focuses on stablecoin pools. It was launched with just a single pool consisting of Dai (DAI), USD Coin (USDC), Tether (USDT), and TrueUSD (TUSD). In December, the project reported reaching approximately $1 billion in total locked value.
What is Swerve (SWRV)?
Swerve was introduced to the market as a community-focused alternative to Curve. The founder of Swerve criticized Curve for being unfairly managed and for its founder having too much power. Swerve’s founder claimed to offer better exchange pricing and higher annual percentage yields on stablecoins compared to other platforms.
Swerve also uses a reward game mechanism called “Boost,” where liquidity providers who lock SWRV receive a higher APY compared to those who do not. The rate of increase in someone’s APY is determined by a calculation that includes the number of tokens locked by the user and the total amount locked, among other factors.
Half of the trades on the platform are given to liquidity providers, 50% is taken as an administrative fee, and there is a 0.03% fee that will be sent to the Swerve treasury, which is capped at $200,000.
In addition, in October 2020, the management accepted a grant to further develop the decentralized finance platform Serum (SRM).
In October 2020, founder John Deer stated that the priorities for the project were to increase the platform’s volume and better incentivize SWRV.
On the other hand, Swerve was launched by an anonymous developer known as “John Deere,” who started the project as a side project outside of his full-time job. During an AMA session, when asked about his personal background, he stated that he was just a low-level farmer who liked logical token distributions and also had experience in software development and crypto.
