The “Comedian” artwork essentially contains a perishable banana and a piece of tape that can be changed over time. By acquiring this piece, Sun emphasized that he was not just buying a banana, but investing in a concept that has made a mark in art history.
Sun announced his purchase on social media, noting that the artwork serves as a bridge between the art world and the cryptocurrency community. Sun mentioned his intention to eat the banana, claiming, “This will be a unique artistic experience.” In this scenario, he would be the third person to consume the banana. Previously, a student had eaten the banana displayed in a museum due to hunger, re-taping the peel back to the wall afterward.
The banana was first exhibited in 2019 at Miami Art Basel, where artist David Datuna consumed it, referring to the act as “art performance” without facing any legal consequences.
