The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Crypto Task Force will host a roundtable meeting on May 12 in Washington, D.C. This event aims to provide a platform for representatives from leading firms in the traditional financial sector and participants active in crypto-asset tokenization to share their insights. The meeting had been previously announced with provided dates.
SEC Crypto Meeting
Executives from major financial institutions like BlackRock, Fidelity, and Nasdaq will join representatives from blockchain firms. One of the panel sessions, titled “Evolution of Finance: Capital Markets 2.0,” will be moderated by Jeff Dinwoodie from Cravath. Notable figures such as Robert Mitchnick from BlackRock, Cynthia Lo Bessette from Fidelity, and Eun Ah Choi from Nasdaq will participate in this session.
Additionally, participants from Invesco, Franklin Templeton, Apollo Management, DTCC, and other relevant institutions will join the discussions. The objective is to assess the impact of crypto-asset tokenization on financial markets, with panel members expected to offer diverse perspectives.
Event Schedule and Participation Details
The meeting will occur from 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM U.S. time, and participants can attend either onsite or via live stream on the SEC website. Those wishing to attend in person need to register in advance.
Opening remarks will feature addresses from Crypto Task Force General Manager Richard B. Gabbert and SEC Chair Paul S. Atkins, followed by evaluations from other commissioners. The meeting is the third phase of the Crypto Task Force’s series of events that began in January.
SEC Commissioner Hester M. Peirce expressed her expectations regarding the event with the following statement:

This meeting is part of a four-phase series announced by the SEC in March, with the final phase scheduled for June 6 under the title “DeFi and the American Spirit.”

Participants can listen to various institutional perspectives during the panels and gain insights into potential transformations in the financial world.
