$104,724 reserve in the United States has resurfaced with the Czech Republic planning its own BTC reserve. Recently, Senator Cynthia Lummis urged the U.S. to take decisive steps towards establishing a Bitcoin reserve before the Czech Republic does.
Importance of a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve
In her latest post on X, Senator Lummis emphasized the significance of creating a strategic Bitcoin reserve. Referring to the Czech Republic’s recent announcement, she highlighted that the U.S. should take the lead in this domain.
“If you are not first, you will be last. America must take definitive steps to establish a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve to secure its place in the 21st century.”
Senator Lummis’s comments came in the wake of the Czech Republic’s plan to add billions in Bitcoin to its reserves. Ales Michl, President of the Czech National Bank, announced a new bill for purchasing Bitcoin. If approved, the Czech Republic will become the first country to hold BTC reserves.

In 2024, Senator Lummis proposed a historic Bitcoin initiative aimed at strengthening the U.S. dollar. Through the “Nationwide Optimized Investment for Innovation, Technology, and Competitiveness (BITCOIN) Act,” she asserted that Bitcoin could position the U.S. as a global leader in financial innovation.
“Bitcoin is transforming not just our country but the world, and being the first developed nation to use it as a savings technology will secure our leadership in financial innovation.”
However, the Bitcoin reserve legislation has yet to be enacted. Senator Lummis’s support for strategic decisions increases the likelihood of the U.S. incorporating cryptocurrency as an official reserve in the near future.
