Shiba Inu’s marketing expert, Lucie, warned users about potential exploitation risks in the Ethereum Layer-2 scaling protocol Shibarium, which was recently released. Lucie pointed out the possibility of token distribution on the Shibarium network for the purpose of rug pulling by malicious individuals and also reminded that Shiba Inu would not take any responsibility in such cases.
Warning Against Malicious Individuals
According to a post shared by the administrator on Twitter, Shibarium can be developed by anyone similar to other blockchain networks like Polygon and Ethereum. However, this openness also makes it vulnerable to potential attacks. Malicious individuals can use the platform to target decentralized applications built on the Layer-2 network or distribute tokens with high potential for fraudulent rug pulling.
Lucie emphasized that some scammers may even use the name Shibarium in fraudulent project titles, and urged users to be cautious and vigilant. Nearly 500 malicious tokens were released in the Base Layer-2 network launched last week.
What Should Users Pay Attention To?
Lucie provided a set of instructions to help users protect themselves while using Shibarium and reduce the risk of encountering phishing links and scam plans. Users were advised to interact with the official Telegram or Discord channels to verify the legitimacy of the protocol or asset.
Users should assess the general sentiment of the community in these channels, thoroughly examine social media content, and verify transactions through Etherscan. Lucie emphasized that while the team strongly emphasizes user security, users themselves are also responsible for taking proactive measures.
According to a recent statement by Shiba Inu’s lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, although blockchain aims to bring back decentralization, it is not without disadvantages.
Following months of testing with millions of users and the creation of 21 million wallets, Shiba Inu launched the Shibarium mainnet on August 16. However, considering the price of ecosystem tokens, the launch seems to have had a challenging start.
