For years, USDT has been a dangerous minefield for the cryptocurrency markets, and this risk continues even in 2023. Many market downturns are associated with Tether. For example, the events during the Evergrande crisis, the ongoing decline triggered by Binance CEO with USDT, and much more.
Tether Cryptocurrency Mining
Tether, the issuer of stablecoin, recently found himself addressing rumors about images of large industrial containers online. These speculations have brought back questions about where Tether carries out its Bitcoin mining.
In a post shared on his X account (formerly known as Twitter), Ardoino shed light on the curiosity sparked by a photo he shared on August 24. The photo showed a container with the Tether Energy logo photoshopped on it, and many wondered what it meant.
Ardoino explained that the photo depicted a control room in a Bitcoin mining site that Tether is currently completing and will soon commence operations. He firmly stated that he would not disclose the location, despite answering questions from numerous users. While he mentioned that the site is in Latin America, he did not provide further details due to security reasons.
“Where? LATAM. We tend not to share precise locations to avoid staff harassment, which is a valid concern given the number of people obsessed with Tether. You can almost hear some of them scream: ‘NOOOOOOOO, if you don’t tell us the address, zip code, and the surname of the cow that eats the nearby grass, then this is not real!'”
Tether (USDT)
This year, the company has converted all of its commercial papers into easily convertible assets. By investing in US Treasury bonds, Tether has reduced its exposure to risks such as the bankruptcy rumors surrounding giant companies like Evergrande. The company has also committed to purchasing Bitcoin with up to 15% of its billion-dollar-plus revenue. Additionally, the company is making investments to diversify its income in various areas, including cryptocurrency mining.
In an interview on August 17, Ardoino revealed that Tether is working on a mining software called Moria, which provides more comprehensive data analysis on energy production. The Tether CTO stated that this would increase work efficiency and improve performance.
