Donald Trump announced that owners of the Mugshot NFT, featuring his booking photo, plan to meet him for dinner at his home in Florida. On May 8, many crypto users on social media stated they would meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago as part of the deal when purchasing the NFT.

The event was not listed on Trump’s website at the time of publication, but the platform selling the NFTs is not directly linked to Trump’s campaign. Brandon Davis mentioned on social media platform X that some supporters would also be present at the event, referencing the Hex blockchain network.
After being charged with attempts to manipulate the 2020 elections, Trump surrendered to authorities in August 2023, marking the first time a current or former U.S. President had a mugshot taken. In December 2023, the former president announced that anyone who purchased one of the 47 Mugshot NFTs, priced at $99 each, would be invited to a face-to-face dinner at Mar-a-Lago, referencing his intention to become the 47th U.S. President.
Since jury selection began on April 15, Trump has been present in a New York courtroom on trial days. However, his trial does not proceed on Wednesdays when Chief Judge Juan Merchan addresses other matters.
Trump and Notable Charges
As the first former U.S. President facing criminal charges, Trump continues to harshly criticize Judge Merchan and prosecutors. He has been reprimanded ten times for speaking to journalists and on social media about the judge, witnesses, and court staff, with warnings of potential imprisonment if he persists.
It is unclear whether the Mar-a-Lago dinner will focus on NFTs or the broader crypto sector. Trump has previously stated he has never owned Bitcoin but accepts crypto payments for branded sneakers and other products.
Before becoming the Republican nominee, Trump made several public statements about crypto, including never allowing a U.S. central bank digital currency if elected. He is likely to face President Joe Biden in the November 2024 U.S. Presidential Election.
