QuickSwap, a Uniswap fork operating on the Polygon network (formerly known as Matic Network), is a Layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum. Polygon boasts lower transaction fees compared to the Ethereum mainnet, enabling QuickSwap to facilitate token transactions at a lower cost compared to exchanges like Uniswap v2. The QUICK token, QuickSwap’s native token, grants users governance rights over the protocol.
What is QuickSwap (QUICK)?
QuickSwap represents a new generation of Layer-2 decentralized exchanges (DEX) and automated market makers (AMM). It is also a fork or clone of Uniswap, the leading automated market maker. However, the difference lies in the fact that while Uniswap operates on the Ethereum Network, QuickSwap runs on the Matic/Polygon Layer-2 platform.
Due to high congestion on the Ethereum Network, QuickSwap offers faster payments than Uniswap with significantly lower fees. Since Uniswap has become the industry standard for AMMs and Uniswap liquidity mining and has been heavily audited, it’s not surprising that many projects use its open-source code to create variations of the leading decentralized exchange (DEX).
In addition, the native QUICK token is an ERC-20 token that forms the foundation of the QuickSwap platform. Launched in February 2021, the QUICK token experienced a surge of over 90% on its first day of trading.
According to statements, the distribution model for the QUICK token was carried out fairly, aiming to create a sustainable and robust ecosystem that prioritizes its community. There was no seed, private, or public funding for the QUICK token. Moreover, 90% of all QUICK token distribution is allocated for liquidity mining over the next four years.
On the other hand, users earn 0.3% of transaction fees by providing liquidity to trading pairs on QuickSwap. Liquidity providers also earn the native QUICK token for their participation. The QuickSwap protocol will be governed by the community of QUICK token holders, eventually enabling them to vote on proposals for changes to the protocol. The goal is to allow the QUICK token to enable QuickSwap to become fully decentralized.
