Worldcoin Foundation took a significant step by announcing the recipients of the Wave1 Community Grants Program. This program aims to support projects aligned with its mission to enhance online trust and global economic access. Wave1 grants were awarded to 17 different projects, aiming to contribute to Worldcoin’s inclusive goals with innovative approaches.
Supported Projects
One of the key features of Wave1 is the continuation of support for previous grant recipients. Notably, TACEO, which has made progress in biometric template protection and secure deletion of Worldcoin’s old iris code system, will further develop SMPC technology to enhance privacy protection for WorldID verified users.
Among the new Wave1 grant recipients is Axiom, working on a prototype implementation for a universal Groth16 verifier circuit to streamline WorldID proof verification. This aims to efficiently aggregate proof verifications, reducing on-chain costs associated with Worldcoin’s infrastructure.
Similarly, Proof of Passport aims to develop a framework for electronic passport verification within the Worldcoin ecosystem and explore various ways to achieve verifiable on-chain identity.
Farcaster Humanizer and Others
Farcaster Humanizer is another significant project providing an identity verification layer designed to verify the humanity of accounts in applications built on Farcaster. This initiative will help create bot-free social spaces by ensuring users are real people. Additionally, Alphaday offers customizable dashboards for navigating the Web3 world, including DeFi, NFTs, and crypto, and will work on a Worldcoin ecosystem dashboard to centralize relevant information for the community.
Only Dust and Encode Club focus on attracting and training new developers. Only Dust connects developers with active Worldcoin projects, starting with WorldID bridge integrations for Ethereum-compatible large ecosystems. Encode Club, a global community of top developers and students, will create an 8-week training series featuring live workshops and YouTube content to reach and educate thousands worldwide about Worldcoin.
Other grant recipients include Wormhole, working on cross-chain WorldID verification for Solana, and zkSnap, enhancing governance systems with secure, private, and scalable voting protocols. Herodotus is developing middleware for data access for smart contracts, and World Poll is creating a secure global survey platform using World ID for genuine feedback and participation.
Cometh, Agora, Fuzzing Labs, and Satori
Additional projects supported by Wave1 grants include Cometh, which will integrate passkeys and smart accounts into World Chain wallets, and Agora, researching governance frameworks for the decentralization of Worldcoin. Fuzzing Labs will enhance OP-TEE security for biometric data, and Satori aims to optimize World ID proof aggregation for scalability and cost efficiency.
Finally, BBB & Company, a sphere operator in Japan, will organize Worldcoin meetups to promote the adoption of World ID and Worldcoin.
