As the zero-knowledge (ZK) technology progresses in solving its use cases on the mainstream, the community supporting this technology continues to attract attention and strengthen. Over 1,200 ZK developers, community members, and enthusiasts, including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, attended the zkDay Istanbul event last week.
zkDay Event Makes an Impact on the Industry
With ZK meetups attracting the interest of 1,500 to 4,000 participants, the enthusiasm experienced at zkDay Istanbul as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration was remarkable. The event was planned following the success of zkDay Paris, which attracted early-stage ZK initiatives and market leaders.
Various ZK-focused projects from different stages came together to connect and interact with high-level members of zkDay sponsor projects such as Polyhedra Network and =nil; Foundation’s Manta Network. Kenny Li, COO and co-founder of Manta Network, stated:
“The interest and participation in zkDay are evidence of the community’s growing interest, and we are excited to see this interest continue to increase from country to country.”
Additionally, zkDay Istanbul event drew attention by being held in conjunction with Devconnect 2023, an event dedicated to the Ethereum community, founders, and researchers.
Noteworthy Developments at the Event
Many high-quality projects, many of which have previously excelled in competitive events like ETH Global, participated in the zkDay Pitch competition held as part of the event. Li announced their plans for future collaborations with zkDay Pitch sponsor ETH Global to provide more support to promising projects. Abner Jia, CEO of Polyhedra Network, also expressed optimism about the growing interest in the ZK community mentioned by Li. Highlighting the increased interest in zero-knowledge technology, Jia commented:
“As more projects and enthusiasts join the zk ecosystem, it is evident that the community is on a strong growth trajectory.”
While the projects attending the event aim to involve users in next-generation consumer products, improving user experience remains a shared goal of the ZK community. Li added:
“That’s why we are so focused on our Universal Circuits at Manta Pacific, where we can enable developers to launch EVM-compatible decentralized applications benefiting from ZK without having to solve cryptographic elements by offering ZK-as-a-Service.”
