Near Foundation announced the availability of NEAR Data Availability (NEAR DA) network for users during NEARCON 2023 events. NEAR DA, which is part of the NEAR Open Web Stack, stands out as a secure and cost-effective usable space for Ethereum developers. NEAR DA will be launched through a series of partnerships including StarkNet, Caldera, Fluent, Vistara, Dymension RollApps, and Movement Labs.
What is NEAR DA?
The NEAR DA team claims that Ethereum developers can achieve cost-effective and reliable data availability. According to them, 100kB calldata in NEAR will be available for a cost of $0.0033 as of September 2023. In comparison, the same calldata in the Ethereum ecosystem is available for users at a cost of $26.22. In other words, NEAR DA is 8,000 times cheaper than Ethereum.
NEAR DA aims to help reduce developers’ costs and enhance the reliability of their applications while ensuring the security of Ethereum. Projects launching application protocols or Layer-2 solution networks can also receive support from NEAR DA. Illia Polosukhin, co-founder of NEAR Protocol and the new CEO of Near Foundation, commented on the matter:
