A website claimed to have been published by the team was quickly deleted, but attentive users managed to take screenshots from the website. The fact that the website link was the official Starknet domain fueled these claims, and the airdrop criteria listed on the website were targeted by criticisms from Web3 users.
In particular, the criteria defined for users who paid 100 Ethereum or more in commission fees in the Ethereum ecosystem drew significant backlash. Also, the excitement was palpable for the ability to check airdrop criteria on a website opened through the Starknet domain, but this site was quickly shut down.
According to the criteria discussed, these wallets earned the right to airdrop; Starknet users, Starknet developers, Github developers, early users in the Ethereum ecosystem, Ethereum stakers, and Starkex users. These criteria led to criticism aimed at the Starknet team.
Domain Addresses Belong to Starknet Team
Following these developments, some popular accounts on X claimed that the domain addresses were written as “Straknet” instead of “Starknet”, but these claims were quickly refuted. Cryptophile, who made a name with their posts on X, revealed that these domain addresses were owned by the Starknet team.
Cryptophile revealed that the “starknet io” address is the official Starknet address and that the airdrop site in question was connected to this domain. Especially the fact that the domain links share the same IP numbers creates a strong impression that this move was made by the Starknet team.
With all these developments, the launch of the Starknet Governance site shows an important step has been taken for STRK. While the airdrop page was closed at the time of writing, access to the Starknet Governance site continues. During this period, it is worth noting that the Starknet team has not published any announcements and especially reminds that no wallets should be connected to any website that can be shared on social media platforms.
