Cryptocurrency WLD Coin, supported by Sam Altman, has demonstrated impressive performance this month, and interest is on the rise. The venture, moving beyond just identity verification services, is finding its role in the new world integrated with artificial intelligence. Following Altman’s recent comments, we mentioned that interest could increase even more in the short and medium term. The latest move is related to Shopify.
Shopify and Worldcoin
Even if you heard the name Shopify for the first time in Mr Beast videos, it is one of the world’s most popular shopping platforms. A blog post published a few hours ago talked about the importance of Worldcoin in running promotions aimed at protecting against fraud and providing fair benefits to its customers.
Worldcoin, on December 13th, opened a limited-time Shopify store offering free high-quality products to individuals around the world with verified World ID. Hats were offered to individuals with the widely available “Device Verification” level. Those with the more secure “Orb Verification” level were given a sweatshirt. Both products were given away for free to unique, verified individuals.
In total, orders were placed by more than 2,000 unique individuals across 45+ countries on 6 continents, including Japan, Hong Kong, Argentina, and more. Orders were evenly distributed among Device and Orb verified users. There are currently over 5 million people worldwide with a World App account and approximately 2.7 million people with an Orb Verified World ID.
The key point here was that each product reached only one real person. If promotions had been sent to users via email or different verification methods, there could have been exploiters of the campaign. However, thanks to the World Coin identity, only real and verified users could own them.
World ID and Its Future
Regulatory issues aside, it’s great that this service can solve problems in every field that requires identity verification. Especially in the new internet world powered by artificial intelligence, it will become increasingly difficult to distinguish real humans, and AI characters without retinas will be easily eliminated as they won’t have a World Coin identity.
Tiago Sada said the following;
“The second generation World ID offers retail companies new opportunities to connect with online customers in ways that were not possible before. By ensuring transactions are made by unique humans, not bots, businesses can better protect themselves against fraud while reaching an audience that is as widely and fairly distributed as possible.”
