Polymath (POLY) is an Ethereum-based blockchain project aimed at facilitating the creation of security tokens. Initiated by Trevor Koverko, Polymath possesses a cryptocurrency based on the ST-20 Polymath standard (ERC1400). This cryptocurrency allows users to restrict their tokens to certain participants, addressing challenges in the security token sector. To date, over 220 tokens have been created on the Polymath platform, each exclusively available to and tradable by a specific audience.
Launched in 2017, Polymath later transitioned to the Ethereum mainnet on January 31, 2018. Initially, 240,000,000 tokens were distributed, but the maximum supply of Polymath Coin is known to be 1 billion. Currently, 808,000,000 Polymath Coins are in circulation, with expectations to reach 925,000,000 by January 31, 2022.
What is Polymath (POLY)?
It’s known that POLY is currently testing its own testnet and, if successful, will transition to its mainnet. The Proof-of-Stake based blockchain network, Polymesh, could be launched in 2021 if all tests are successful.
