Will Bitcoin Surpass Gold?
Michael Saylor, the founder and former CEO of MicroStrategy and one of Bitcoin’s (BTC) biggest proponents, stated on February 19 that in the digital age we are believed to be in, Bitcoin will replace gold as the ultimate store of value.
In addition, the famous figure emphasized the exponential growth of BTC compared to gold when evaluating the events since 2020. On the other hand, Jim Bianco, the head of Bianco Research, made the following statement:
The launch of spot Bitcoin ETFs was a big mistake.
Bitcoin or Gold?
Saylor’s entry into the world of cryptocurrency predates the last bull run, with the former CEO announcing MicroStrategy’s first Bitcoin purchase in August 2020. Since then, Saylor has continued to buy Bitcoin while rejecting gold purchases.
Commenting on the matter, Saylor stated:
Gold is dead money. Sell your gold, buy Bitcoin, and if you wait until all hedge funds have dumped their gold, you’ll be the last one out.
In addition to this, Saylor supported his views with the following statement:
Since August 10, 2020, Bitcoin has increased by 333%, while gold has decreased by 1%. The price of $BTC is still below 0.06 million dollars.
Bitcoin Growth and ETFs
Known for her Bitcoin-related podcasts, Natalie Brunell, and the CEO and macro strategist of Bianco Research, Jim Bianco, recently made contradictory comments about the impact of ETFs on Bitcoin’s growth in a podcast,
Spot Bitcoin ETFs were a big mistake. Congratulations to everyone who bought Bitcoin at 60,000 dollars.
However, despite such a statement, Bianco noted that the start of Bitcoin’s spot ETFs trading in parallel with the current financial system is similar to the process previously seen with gold.
