Camila Russo, founder of the DeFi media platform The Defiant, criticized Buterin, stating that certain aspects of the Ethereum 
$2,358 Layer 2 user experience are “painful” and “difficult to use” for newcomers. In response, Buterin explained the reasons behind the current situation while highlighting the importance of shaping the future.

Buterin indicated that seamless interaction between Layer 2s would be achievable through technical innovations and community coordination. This aims to eliminate the differences between Ethereum’s Layer 1 experience and Layer 2 solutions. Ethereum’s “Surge” Strategy
In his blog post titled “The Surge,” Buterin outlined a scaling strategy that integrates sharding and Layer 2 protocols. This strategy aims to maintain Ethereum’s resilience and decentralization while targeting a processing capacity of 100,000 transactions per second. He also mentioned that improvements to the gas fee structure would enhance ETH’s transaction speed.
Buterin continuously shares updates to shape Ethereum’s future. Under “The Surge” roadmap, he introduced important initiatives such as EVM optimization and security enhancements. These efforts are expected to contribute to making the Ethereum ecosystem more user-friendly and integrated.
Russo pointed out that existing issues within the Ethereum ecosystem should not be overlooked and that cross-ecosystem coordination needs improvement. This aims to make the user experience smoother and more accessible.
