Cryptocurrency wallet provider Exodus has introduced XO Cash, its new stablecoin product built on the Solana blockchain, along with an integrated developer toolkit. The platform is specifically designed to allow AI-powered software and automation systems to make rapid and secure payments without directly accessing private keys, streamlining digital money management in the AI era.

XO Cash features and integrations

In an announcement made Friday, Exodus revealed that XO Cash was developed in partnership with MoonPay. The software suite enables developers to create “agent wallets” operated by AI, set spending limits, and issue virtual banking cards linked to the Visa payment network. Fully integrated with Exodus Pay, XO Cash keeps private keys under the user’s control while granting AI-based applications or agents access to initiate wallet transactions.

Both developers and users can fund their AI wallets with Exodus Pay balances. The system also allows users to set transaction caps, permit spending only with approved merchants, and establish daily spending limits. According to the company, payment transactions leverage Monavate and MoonPay infrastructure to process payments via Visa. At the point of purchase, payments are instantly converted to stablecoins like USD Coin (USDC) or Tether (USDT).

Exodus stated, “XO Cash transactions are fee-free and optimized for high-frequency automated payments.” The stablecoin and accompanying developer documentation became available on XOCash.com as of Thursday.

AI-driven financial infrastructure gains momentum

The trend of enabling AI-powered automation systems to perform payments using stablecoins has accelerated in the crypto sector in recent months. Recently, Anchorage Bank launched its “agentic banking” platform, giving AI software access to both traditional and crypto payment rails, all governed by strict spending and compliance guidelines.

On the payment systems front, Visa’s crypto division rolled out the Visa CLI command-line tool, which enables same-day payments without exposing API keys. Meanwhile, Stripe-backed Tempo has launched a blockchain-based payment protocol tailored for on-chain automated transactions.

Additionally, Amazon Web Services and Coinbase have partnered to integrate Coinbase’s x402 payment protocol into Amazon Bedrock AgentCore. This integration allows AI programs to process USDC payments directly on the Solana and Base blockchains—without handling any private keys.

AI-focused transformation drives industry restructuring

The rapid adoption of AI-driven applications is spurring major organizational changes in the sector, including layoffs and company restructuring. This week, Coinbase announced it would reduce its workforce by roughly 14 percent, aiming to operate with leaner, AI-focused teams. Payments company Block also shared plans to cut its staff by nearly 40 percent in February to expand the use of AI tools within the company.

These moves toward automation and AI adaptation are not only reshaping employment but also raising the bar for security and speed in crypto transactions. Firms that swiftly integrate cutting-edge crypto payment technologies now seek to gain a competitive edge with AI-enabled solutions.
