Ethereum saw increased volatility over the past 24 hours, retreating from its recent highs and testing a vital support area. At the time of reporting, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization was trading near $1,877, reflecting a daily decline of almost 4%, according to Brave New Coin data. Despite the pullback, several market analysts pointed to the broader recovery structure as remaining intact as long as the $1,745 support holds.

Technical pullback and support structure

The sharp drop pushed Ethereum away from the upper end of its current range. The price briefly slipped below $1,875 before attempting to stabilize, with elevated trading volume above $12.1 billion suggesting significant market activity during the correction.

Analysts continue to monitor the $1,745 support region, which is seen as critical in differentiating a healthy correction from a broader bearish shift. Maintaining this level is described as essential for avoiding a deeper reversal and preserving the potential for a rebound.

A decisive move below $1,745 would, according to analysts, increase the likelihood of more pronounced downside for ETH. Conversely, as long as Ethereum remains above this zone, the latest weakness is viewed as a standard retest within a larger upward trajectory.

Upside targets and deviation recovery scenario

Trader Symba, known for technical analysis in the crypto markets, outlined a scenario in which Ethereum confirmed a deviation below its previous support but quickly reclaimed it. The price action near $1,745 is described as a classic case where sellers can be trapped, potentially leading to a more pronounced move to the upside.

Symba projected major upside targets between $2,425 and $2,470, as long as ETH stays above the critical support. However, the path to these levels requires buyers to reclaim resistance in the $1,975 to $2,000 range, which is currently seen as a significant obstacle.

Trader Symba identified the reclaim of $1,745 as a potentially bullish deviation, suggesting targets up to $2,470 are viable if buyers sustain momentum above the current resistance.

Should bulls manage to overcome this resistance, ETH could first attempt a move towards $2,300 before setting sights on the higher target range.

$36 million sell wall near $2,000

The upward move faces immediate resistance due to a large cluster of sell orders accumulated between $1,975 and $2,000. Ted Pillows, a specialist in market order flow, reported around $36 million in ETH positioned as sell orders in this area, emphasizing why Ethereum’s price struggles to break through this threshold.

Order book data indicates that the main concentration of supply is just below $2,000, with further sell interest above that landmark. If Ethereum manages to absorb these orders and close above the $2,000 level, analysts suggest a rapid advance toward $2,150 could follow.

Ted Pillows highlighted the presence of a $36 million sell wall near $2,000, noting this level remains a critical barrier that could block swift upward movement unless cleared.

Until a solid breakout is achieved, the $1,975 to $2,000 range continues to serve as the key short-term resistance for ETH.

Mixed liquidity concentrations and potential catalysts

Liquidity maps show heavy clustering both above and below Ethereum’s spot price. Analysis by Ted Pillows points out that the next material move for ETH depends on a significant catalyst, with strong liquidity at $2,000 and above, and notable support zones closer to $1,500 on the downside.

Both bullish and bearish traders are exposed, with increased risk of volatility if an external factor, such as the outcome of the Clarity Act, triggers a market move. A favorable result could force short sellers to cover positions, while a negative development may expose Ethereum to additional downside risk.

Mini dictionary: The Clarity Act is a proposed piece of legislation in the United States aimed at clarifying the legal classification of digital assets such as cryptocurrencies, which could impact market behavior by reducing regulatory uncertainty.

Contrasting viewpoint: bull trap warning

Not all analysts anticipate an immediate bullish move. Crypto Lens outlined an opposing scenario, arguing that Ethereum remains range-bound between $1,860 and $1,955, potentially rallying into resistance before encountering a deeper selloff. This view envisions a period of distribution lasting up to ten days, after which ETH could experience further decline, possibly bottoming between $900 and $1,400.

This alternate scenario requires Ethereum to break below its current support structure before it becomes more plausible.

ScenarioShort-term TargetMajor SupportBearish BottomBullish Target
Bullish (Symba)$2,000$1,745–$2,470
Bearish (Crypto Lens)$1,900–$2,000$1,745$900–$1,400–

Key resistance and support levels

The immediate resistance for Ethereum is concentrated at $1,950 to $2,000, with technical and order-based supply providing a substantial near-term hurdle. A breakout above this region would likely improve sentiment and bring $2,150 back into view, followed by additional resistance at $2,300 and the major target band of $2,425 to $2,470.

On the downside, initial support lies at $1,860, with $1,745 as the decisive level in the current structure. A loss of $1,745 risks triggering a deeper correction toward $1,500 or below.
