  • 📉 Analysts point to key resistance at $66,291 and a five-wave exhaustion pattern in $BTC.

Bitcoin is showing signs of short-term exhaustion after advancing in a five-wave pattern and facing resistance near the $65,400 area. Technical charts now suggest an increased likelihood of a pullback, with $63,300 emerging as the first significant downside target. A decisive move above $66,291 would reduce this bearish outlook.

Wave Structure Points to Near-Term ResistanceRejection at $65,400 Highlights Near-Term Downside Risk

Wave Structure Points to Near-Term Resistance

On the 30-minute chart, Bitcoin has progressed within an ascending channel, forming a clear five-wave structure. The price recently approached an area where analysts expect wave (1) could soon wrap up, though no full reversal has been confirmed. Several key resistance and retracement levels now stand out as critical to Bitcoin’s next short-term direction.

After recovering from early-August lows, Bitcoin was trading near $65,031 while continuing its steady ascent. Analysts from More Crypto Online identified the current structure as a five-wave advance, with price apparently in the final leg. This pattern indicates that a short-term wave (1) top may be forming.

The next major obstacle lies in the upper region of the current move, with a horizontal resistance around the mid-$65,000s. If the price surpasses $66,291, linked to a 38.2% Fibonacci level, the bearish scenario would be weakened, potentially opening the door for an extension toward the next retracement area at approximately $69,166.

If a correction develops, the first retracement is seen near $64,170, followed by $63,795, $63,422, and $62,894. These represent increasingly deeper pullback targets and may act as support if Bitcoin turns lower from resistance.

A larger correction would bring broader support into focus, with $62,534, $61,593, and $60,665 standing out as the next defenses. Analysts associate these levels with a possible wave (2) scenario rather than an immediate major breakdown. Monitoring these zones can help market participants identify shifting momentum and prepare for new opportunities.

Traders are now watching whether Bitcoin can decisively break through resistance and the $66,291 threshold. If the upward channel fails, or Bitcoin loses momentum below resistance, a corrective wave would be more likely. Maintaining the channel and overcoming resistance would reinforce the current short-term uptrend.

Many investors turn to platforms that offer enhanced monitoring and immediate response tools. CryptoAppsy, for example, combines crypto investment tracking, real-time prices, in-depth charts, and multi-currency portfolio management, all in one interface. Features such as instant price alerts, news filtering by individual coins, discovery of newly listed altcoins, and access to critical macroeconomic data like Fed interest rates help users stay alert to rapid market movements and avoid missing key signals.

The five-wave structure within the ascending channel and the approach to key resistance zones underscore the short-term pullback risk, while a clear break above $66,291 would keep the bullish case intact for now.

Rejection at $65,400 Highlights Near-Term Downside Risk

Bitcoin recently tested and rejected the $65,400 resistance, briefly moving above local highs before quickly retreating—a move some analysts describe as a liquidity sweep. This action has been interpreted as a potential short-term bearish signal, with $63,300 emerging as a main downside target if sellers regain control.

Kaz, a market analyst, views the brief spike above $65,400 followed by a swift pullback as a classic stop-loss sweep, trapping breakout traders before a decline. These liquidity sweeps often occur when price surpasses a prominent high, activates buy orders, and then rapidly drops back below resistance.

Following the rejection, buyers were unable to hold territory above the previous high, returning price action near $65,000. Analysts describe the preceding move as a “staircase” climb, but warn that the current setup could trigger a sharper and faster drop.

Kaz’s projection highlights $63,300 as the immediate critical level, with a wider demand zone stretching from $62,800 to $63,300. This area is seen as a potential reentry point for short-term buyers, provided Bitcoin finds adequate support.

Further weakness, especially a decisive move away from $65,400, would increase the likelihood of testing $63,300. A drop below this support could challenge buyers’ determination to defend the ongoing recovery. Conversely, reclaiming $65,400 and holding above it would undermine the bearish narrative and signal renewed bullish momentum. Until that happens, the failed breakout keeps the focus on the downside scenario toward $63,300.

The recent rejection at $65,400 marked a local liquidity sweep and leaves the door open for a short-term drop to $63,300, which now serves as the critical level to watch if sellers remain active.
