Institutional demand and market momentum

Demand for spot Bitcoin ETFs has accelerated, with institutions pouring over $2.5 billion into these funds over the past week. ETF assets under management have surged to $98.56 billion, up from $78.67 billion just one week ago.

The recent upward trend in Bitcoin prices, which broke above $69,000 last week, coincided with a $3 billion short squeeze. Analysts highlighted that, unlike short covering, ongoing ETF inflows suggest persistent institutional interest beyond forced buying from liquidations.

Seven days of ETF inflows totaling more than $2.5 billion show that institutions are actively buying, supporting the move rather than simply covering short positions.

Performance of other crypto assets

Other cryptocurrency-focused ETFs also saw notable inflows. Ether funds attracted $115.57 million in net new investments. Solana-related funds brought in $33.49 million, while XRP funds registered inflows of $13.82 million. Every major listed cryptocurrency asset recorded positive flows during the period.

Market outlook and analyst concerns

With Bitcoin reaching above $80,000, several analysts are beginning to highlight overbought signals in the market. Whether the robust ETF inflow streak will continue remains uncertain. Any flat or negative flow data this week may challenge the current narrative of strong institutional demand, while further positive days at these levels would reinforce the trend.

The real test for Bitcoin and ETF inflows will come if the market consolidates or declines after reaching new highs, raising questions about the sustainability of institutional interest.
