Solana has regained ground above $100, recording approximately 1.5% gains in the latest trading session. This moves SOL back over an important psychological and technical threshold after a brief dip below this level earlier in the week. The $95–$100 zone now acts as a critical support area established during the asset’s upward breakout in August.

Fed rate hike pressures crypto sentiment

The U.S. Federal Reserve implemented a 25 basis point interest rate increase on Wednesday, marking its first policy move of this kind since July 2023. The new target range for the benchmark interest rate now stands at 3.75% to 4.00%. Policymakers pointed to ongoing inflation pressures as their primary motivation for the hike.

Following the Fed’s announcement, the U.S. dollar hit its highest point in seven weeks, putting additional pressure on dollar-denominated assets like cryptocurrencies. Higher rates can reduce appetite for speculative investments by enhancing the appeal of fixed-income securities and cash.

Shortly after the policy move, Bitcoin experienced noticeable volatility, with prices falling sharply before stabilizing as traders assessed the Fed’s outlook. Analysts note that continued dollar strength and tighter monetary conditions may weigh on the broader crypto market in the short term.

In response to stubborn inflation, the Federal Reserve lifted interest rates by 0.25 percentage points, marking the end of its longest rate pause since 2008 and sparking volatility across both traditional and crypto markets.

Technical outlook for Solana

Solana climbed rapidly from around $70 to above $100 during August, breaking through a significant resistance zone between $90 and $97. This level now acts as support and will likely determine the next phase of price action for SOL.

Technical indicators like the relative strength index (RSI) have cooled from overbought conditions. Currently, Solana’s daily RSI is at 53, down from readings above 80 during last month’s rally. Market participants are watching this balanced territory for signs of further directional bias.

Analyst Celal Kucuker described a scenario in which SOL could advance from $59 to $1,000 if its weekly chart forms a parabolic structure, with $59 considered a potential major bottom. He emphasized the speculative nature of this projection.

Kucuker highlighted, “Technically, $1,000 is possible if this weekly structure develops into a parabolic move, with $59 as a potential major bottom. However, this remains only a forecast.”

Regulatory and legislative developments

Efforts to advance cryptocurrency regulation encountered a setback in the U.S. Senate, as lawmakers failed to pass the Digital Asset Market CLARITY Act. This legislation aimed to clarify digital asset oversight, dividing responsibilities between the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

While the bill received a simple majority, it fell short of the 60-vote supermajority required to progress. The outcome prolongs regulatory uncertainty in U.S. crypto markets, leaving current agency rules and courts as the main sources of market guidance.

After the failed vote, both Bitcoin and major crypto-related stocks dropped, with altcoins like Solana seeing renewed selling pressure.

In a positive step for conventional market access, regulatory authorities recently approved changes allowing Nasdaq-listed exchange-traded products (ETPs) linked to Solana and rival asset XRP. This development provides additional avenues for institutional and retail investors to gain exposure to SOL via established equity platforms.

Key support and resistance levels

Analysts identify the $95–$100 zone as critical support for Solana, with resistance levels at $105 and $110. If SOL fails to maintain its current range, a secondary support area lies near $83.90.
