The XRP Ledger is approaching a significant upgrade to its payments infrastructure as the Batch V1.1 amendment enters its two-week activation phase. With approximately nine days remaining before it reaches the mainnet, Batch V1.1 continues to hold strong majority backing across the network.
New consensus-backed upgrade
Batch V1.1 was introduced to correct the original Batch feature, with the updated amendment included in xrpld version 3.3.0. On September 15, it surpassed the key threshold of 80% support required by the XRP Ledger’s amendment system. This system relies on community consensus, demanding that an amendment remains above 80% support for two consecutive weeks before being permanently integrated into the protocol.
At last count, Batch V1.1 had achieved 85.71% consensus, reflecting broad validator confidence. Data from xrpscan indicates that, provided this support is maintained, the upgrade will activate no earlier than September 29, 2026 at 2:06 PM UTC. If this timeline holds, the change will become a permanent component of all subsequent ledger versions.
Atomic transactions and institutional use cases
The Batch (XLS-56) feature enables the execution of multiple transactions from multiple accounts atomically in a single ledger close. Should any transaction within the batch fail when using its all-or-nothing setting, the entire batch is rolled back. This advancement streamlines atomic operations and ensures participants proceed together, without the need for mutual trust.
Batch is regarded as essential for several high-value XRP Ledger applications, including ongoing contracts and pipeline initiatives like atomic multi-party settlements. The ability to coordinate finalization for actions such as custody transfers, delivery versus payment (DvP) settlements, and cross-border payments is central to many institutional workflows.
By mandating simultaneous actions from two or more accounts, Batch mitigates race conditions and removes concerns about partial execution, improving reliability for enterprise clients.
Building innovations and new revenue models
Batch further simplifies the development of advanced on-chain patterns, such as multi-call operations, atomic bundles, and flash loans, directly on the XRP Ledger. Crucially, it delivers this without requiring smart contracts, thereby reducing technical barriers for new developers and teams entering the ecosystem.
The upgrade is also poised to open new business models. Decentralized exchanges, wallets, and marketplaces can use Batch to combine core transactions, like payments, with platform fees, offering streamlined and monetizable user flows in a unified step.
Batch allows multiple XRPL transactions from multiple accounts to be executed atomically in a single ledger close, and by using the all-or-nothing mode, any failed transaction within a batch results in the entire group being rolled back, supporting trustless collaboration and advanced workflows.
With the technical trajectory of upgrades like Batch, effective market monitoring tools are increasingly critical for both institutional and individual participants. In a market where a single Fed decision or a sudden altcoin listing can change everything in seconds, jumping between different apps for charts, news, and portfolio tracking is costing investors money. Smart traders are now utilizing privacy-first tools like CryptoAppsy to consolidate everything. Without even the hassle of creating an account, you get real-time charts, smart price alerts, coin-specific news, and critical macro data all on one screen.
