Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy, stated that Bitcoin has entered a renewed bull market and is on track to recover above the $100,000 level. During an interview with Bloomberg Television on October 13, Saylor expressed confidence that Bitcoin has overcome the worst of its recent decline.
Market Recovery After Steep Drop
At the time of Saylor’s remarks, Bitcoin was trading near $83,000, following a significant drop from its all-time high of $126,251 reached in October 2025. The cryptocurrency had bottomed slightly below $60,000 before rebounding into the $80,000 range, according to Saylor.
Bitcoin reached a peak of $126,251 in October 2025, but following that record, approximately $19 billion in liquidations put pressure on leveraged positions.
Since mid-August, Bitcoin has been trading around $80,000, stabilizing after months of volatility. Saylor believes the price will eventually surpass six figures, though he did not specify a timeline for the move.
Institutional Support and Digital Credit Outlook
Saylor outlined several factors underpinning his optimistic forecast, including improved monetary conditions, upcoming regulatory changes, and increased involvement from major institutions. He also suggested that banks are likely to expand their adoption of Bitcoin, supporting demand for digital credit products as financial firms broaden their crypto offerings.
Mini dictionary: Digital credit refers to a blockchain-based financial product that enables the issuance and transfer of credit or loans without the need for traditional banking intermediaries. These instruments are typically backed by cryptocurrencies and facilitated via smart contracts.
Saylor expects continued growth in demand for digital credit as the financial industry integrates more crypto-related services.
Strategy Increases Bitcoin Holdings
Strategy, a US-based public company known for its substantial Bitcoin holdings, added 250 more coins between October 5 and October 11. The firm invested approximately $21.5 million in this purchase, bringing its total holdings to 848,250 Bitcoin. During the same period, Strategy also conducted a buyback of $192.4 million in preferred shares as part of its capital management efforts.
Saylor said the company plans to acquire more Bitcoin as the market rebounds and intends to use securities issuances to fund future purchases. He projected that Bitcoin could grow 20% to 30% annually in the coming years, while also cautioning that these forecasts are not guarantees for investors.
Strategy funds its operations through a combination of preferred share offerings, cash reserves, and sales of common stock.
| Period | Bitcoin Purchased | Total Holdings | Preferred Shares Buyback |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oct 5–11 | 250 BTC | 848,250 BTC | $192.4 million |
MSCI Mulls Index Eligibility
Strategy’s status within MSCI’s global equity indexes has come under review as the index provider evaluates new rules regarding asset-heavy firms. The proposal could remove companies whose primary activity is holding assets rather than operating traditional businesses.
Saylor criticized the potential change and argued that Strategy should continue to be classified as an operating company. He described MSCI’s stance as “a bad precedent for them and for the industry” and urged the provider to revisit its approach.
According to JPMorgan, about $2.8 billion in investment flows could be impacted if Strategy is removed from the indexes. MSCI is set to announce its decision on Friday, with the outcome determining whether Strategy retains its eligibility for inclusion in major benchmarks and the investment funds tracking them.
