Robinhood announced plans to expand its partnership with Ripple by integrating Ripple’s US dollar stablecoin, RLUSD, into its institutional settlement system on the XRP Ledger and incorporating Ripple Treasury for its global corporate treasury operations.
RLUSD rollout and institutional settlement
Ripple stated that RLUSD is now available on both Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp, which Robinhood acquired in June 2025. According to Ripple, RLUSD will become accessible on the main Robinhood app later in 2025, although no specific launch date or country list was disclosed.
The RLUSD stablecoin will be utilized for institutional settlement on the XRP Ledger by both Robinhood and Bitstamp. Ripple linked this development to Bitstamp’s ongoing institutional growth strategy.
Utility is what moves stablecoins forward, remarked Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president and general manager of Robinhood Crypto and International.
Bitstamp is a Luxembourg-based global digital asset exchange focusing on both retail and institutional clients.
Mini dictionary: RLUSD is a US dollar-pegged stablecoin developed by Ripple to facilitate low-cost and fast digital payments on blockchain networks, particularly the XRP Ledger. It launched in December 2024 and is managed under a regulated trust structure.
Expansion of treasury operations
Ripple said Robinhood will utilize Ripple Treasury, a financial software suite, to manage its worldwide treasury operations. Functions will include payments, intercompany netting, cash flow forecasting, risk management, and liquidity controls.
Broader partnership: Prime brokerage and trading
Ripple has also completed the acquisition and rebranding of prime broker Hidden Road as Ripple Prime in October 2025. Ripple Prime now offers Bitstamp margin financing and lending services across approximately 20 digital assets.
Clients of Ripple Prime can access spot trading on Bitstamp and, by the end of the year, will gain support for perpetual futures trading.
Monica Long, Ripple’s president, stated that this collaboration reflects growing institutional demand for integrated solutions that serve both end-users and core financial infrastructure.
Recent regulatory approvals and RLUSD status
RLUSD, which launched in December 2024, had a market capitalization of about $2.62 billion as of Wednesday, based on CoinGecko data. Robinhood reported 28.7 million funded customers in its most recent quarterly results.
The latest RLUSD developments come soon after Ripple received final federal approval for its trust bank to manage RLUSD reserves and after Moody’s assigned the stablecoin an A2 deposit rating. Separately, BNY Mellon began providing custody services for XRP to institutional clients and, in collaboration with Ripple, plans to allow clients to mint and redeem RLUSD within the bank, pending final regulatory clearances.
