Cryptocurrency analyst Benjamin Cowen has presented a revised strategy for navigating the Bitcoin market in the fourth quarter of 2026, urging investors to move away from forecasting and instead focus on responding directly to current price movements. This guidance comes as Bitcoin challenges a critical technical level near $83,000, breaking its previous May high and signaling a potential shift away from the well-known four-year cycle.
Strategic shift amid technical breakout
Cowen highlighted that Bitcoin’s recent move above its May peak on the weekly chart has triggered his reevaluation of market strategies. He believes this breakout marks the end of predictable cycle-driven movements and calls for a more flexible, chart-centered approach through the end of the year.
The outcome of the current weekly candle is set to play a pivotal role in determining Bitcoin’s trajectory going into 2027. Cowen’s new framework centers on whether Bitcoin can maintain its position above the recently surpassed resistance level.
“You don’t have to predict what happens; I think reacting is better in this case,” noted Cowen, emphasizing that a responsive approach is superior to attempting to forecast the market’s exact direction.
Bullish and bearish scenarios
According to Cowen’s analysis, two primary scenarios may unfold. Should Bitcoin close the week above its May high and maintain this level, the market could see renewed strength for buyers and the possibility of an extended uptrend through the final quarter of the year.
Alternatively, if Bitcoin fails to hold above its May peak and drops back below, Cowen suggests this would constitute a false breakout. In such a situation, Bitcoin may undergo a seasonal correction commonly observed at year-end, though he does not anticipate a return to new cycle lows.
In both cases, Cowen warns that strict prediction efforts may be unproductive in the current climate, with a focus on monitoring meaningful price levels proving more effective.
Advisory on investment strategies
For investors aiming to navigate the remainder of 2026, Cowen recommends dollar-cost averaging (DCA) as a prudent approach, taking advantage of well-documented midterm seasonal trends to gradually accumulate positions amid ongoing volatility.
He maintains that, despite the possibility of short-term turbulence in October or November, Bitcoin’s broader macro trend remains favorable, with early 2027 positioned as a period of likely strong performance.
Given the technical importance of tracking not only price levels but also investor activity and market timing, trends in related segments become increasingly significant. In the meme token space, the rapid movement of capital highlights the importance of real-time observations. For instance, Fomo App data reveals a notable trade where an initial $99 investment in “Niu Lai” ballooned to about $370,000. Fomo App has emerged as a hub for token discovery and trading, integrating social feeds, investor rankings, and trade notifications to help users follow the fast-paced world of meme tokens and investor behavior.
