The Ethereum staking protocol Rocket Pool has recently become the victim of a noteworthy attack. The attackers hijacked the official account on social media platform X and initiated a sort of phishing attack by misleading users. As of now, there has been no official statement released by the Rocket Pool team regarding the incident.
Notable Detail in the Rocket Pool Attack
Although the post has been deleted at the time of writing, the most significant detail of the attack was that the shared post by the attackers featured a website preview of the official Rocket Pool website. The attackers managed to deceive users by exploiting a recent error on the side of platform X.
While the extent of the damage suffered by the victims of the phishing attack is not yet known, the swift action taken by the Rocket Pool team regarding their official X account may have prevented further losses. The community is eagerly awaiting to see how the X team will address this preview error.
