Instagram hosted the Innovation Summit on October 4th for content creators. The event, which took place for the first time, discussed branding in this field, optimizing Instagram tools, and the latest technological innovations. During a conversation between technology influencer Marques Brownlee and Instagram president Adam Mosseri at the summit, Mosseri revealed his belief in the rise of NFTs.
Instagram and the NFT Industry
Instagram announced in March 2023 that it would end its support for Ethereum-based NFTs, causing a great surprise at the time. During the conversation, Mosseri explained why he is still “bullish” despite Instagram ending its NFT support:
“I didn’t see this as a meaningful source of income for all content creators, and I withdrew because they are tightening their belts everywhere and it is very risky.”
The opening speakers of the Innovation Summit included Adam Mosseri, Dave Krugman, and Larissa Gargaro, as well as leading figures in various fields such as photography, film, technology, and artificial intelligence. The event, attended by industry representatives, covered a wide range of topics.
Mosseri Talks About the Artificial Intelligence Industry
Mosseri also discussed the topic of artificial intelligence alongside NFTs, particularly highlighting the potential of AI for influencers. After discussing the challenges content creators face in selecting the right platforms and tools that align with their interests, Mosseri posed an intriguing question: “Would you want to have an AI version of yourself?” He then explained his thoughts:
“For some content creators, this may make sense, while for others, it may not make sense at all. Your AI version should be interesting and compatible with your favorite things. It should be trained in content and know your tone, but at the same time, you wouldn’t want it to recommend your competitors or speak ill of you.”
Mosseri also expressed how interesting and profound it could be for content creators to have AI chatbots or for AI to work for individuals.
Meta recently announced that it will release AI-powered chatbots with different personalities to increase engagement on social media platforms. These chatbots will mimic a range of characters, such as historical figures or ordinary travelers, and provide various services to users.
