SeamlessM4T is the first all-in-one multi-modal and multilingual artificial intelligence translation model that enables people to communicate effortlessly through different languages and text. With its many features, SeamlessM4T will attract attention among translation programs.
Meta announced today the introduction of its artificial intelligence product, SeamlessM4T. According to the announcement, SeamlessM4T will support the top 100 spoken languages in the world and offer many features for these languages. These features include language recognition, translation from spoken to different languages, text-to-text translation, and text-to-speech translation.
According to Meta, many translation programs cover only a few languages spoken worldwide, and support for translation between different languages or text-to-text translation is almost non-existent. However, with the AI-powered SeamlessM4T, these problems will be eliminated. According to the company, SeamlessM4T’s single-system approach reduces errors and delays, improving the efficiency and quality of the translation process. This allows people speaking different languages to communicate with each other more effectively.
Not Meta’s First Project
Last year, Meta released No Language Left Behind, a machine translation model that supports 200 languages, and has since been integrated into Wikipedia as a translation provider. Additionally, Meta shared a demo of the Universal Speech Translator, the first direct speech-to-speech translation system for the uncommon language Hokkien. Earlier this year, Meta introduced Massively Multilingual Speech, which provides speech recognition, language identification, and speech synthesis technology in over 1,100 languages.
SeamlessM4T aims to provide a multilingual and multi-modal translation experience derived from state-of-the-art results generated from a wide variety of spoken data sources, leveraging insights from these projects. With this step taken by Meta, the diversification and popularity of AI-supported projects seem inevitable.
