The surge in the cryptocurrency market continues to accelerate the investment processes of crypto-focused companies. In this context, NodeKit, which operates on the Avalanche-based SEQ network, has collected an investment of $1.2 million in a pre-seed round led by Borderless Capital with the participation of Avalanche Blizzard Fund, Polygon Ventures, and Wormhole Cross-Chain Ecosystem Fund.
What’s Next for NodeKit?
NodeKit continues to develop the SEQ ecosystem, a shared sequencer Layer-1 network that will help rollup chains initiate their transaction sequencing and aid in their decentralization. SEQ plans to operate as a separate blockchain network or a subnetwork within the Avalanche ecosystem.
The broader Ethereum ecosystem’s existing rollup chains, including smart contract rollups such as ZK and optimistic, as well as frameworks like OP Stack, will be compatible with SEQ in terms of software. Moreover, rollups integrated with SEQ will gain cross-chain interoperability with each other. NodeKit CEO Noah Pravecek commented on the matter:
“NodeKit unlocks innovative rollup design by ensuring seamless interoperability of rollups, allowing applications on the chain to compete directly with centralized off-chain applications. This provides a new design space where they don’t have to choose between decentralization or high user growth.”
Noteworthy Details About the SEQ Ecosystem
The design of the SEQ ecosystem will also support various data availability layers like Celestia. The testnet launch of SEQ is scheduled for 2024, followed by the release of the mainnet to the public.
SEQ stands out as one of the first major projects developed using Avalanche’s HyperSDK software toolkit. HyperSDK provides optimization for private blockchain networks built on the Avalanche ecosystem while offering customizability to project teams.
NodeKit marks the entrance of the Avalanche ecosystem into the highly competitive and ever-expanding Ethereum Layer-2 business. Layer-2 projects collect commission fees as users transact, and top Layer-2 projects like Optimism and Arbitrum have recently attracted attention with their multimillion-dollar earnings.
