Seychelles-based cryptocurrency exchange OKX announced support for three new memecoins. These memecoins include a new altcoin related to Dogecoin (DOGE).
New Memecoins
In the announcement by OKX, it was stated that BasedBrett (BRETT), Simon’s Cat (CAT), and Neiro (NEIROETH) on Ethereum will be supported for perpetual futures trading. These tokens will be traded with USDT-margined perpetual futures.
BasedBrett is known as the largest memecoin on the Base blockchain initiated by the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the US, Coinbase. BRETT’s market value is $683 million and has dropped more than 40% since the beginning of August.
Simon’s Cat and Neiro
Simon’s Cat was initially launched on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC) and was distributed to Floki (FLOKI) holders via airdrop last month. CAT’s market value is $187 million and increased by 152% after reaching an all-time low of $0.00001099 a few days after its launch.
The Neiro project describes its altcoin as the “official sister of DOGE” and aims to make history on Ethereum (ETH) $3,202. NEIROETH’s market value is currently $128 million and increased by 449% after hitting an all-time low of $0.0232 on September 3.
OKX’s Views and Plans
At the end of last year, OKX CEO Star Xu announced that he was encouraged to list more BRC-20 altcoins from the Bitcoin (BTC) $89,935 ecosystem. However, Xu stated that the exchange does not aim to be “aggressive” in the listing process.
“Many friends want me to list more BRC-20 tokens. Thank you for these kind suggestions. As an exchange, using the simplest strategy to list all tokens can quickly make money for the exchange, but it would ruin the market.”
Xu also emphasized that OKX does not want to be the most aggressive listing exchange in the industry and that their long-term philosophy is to build infrastructure, do no harm, be as transparent as possible, and always remain technology-focused.
In summary, OKX’s support for three new memecoins may receive various reactions in the cryptocurrency market. Firstly, the effects of these supports on the market should be carefully monitored. Cryptocurrency investors should closely follow such developments and make informed decisions when making investments.
