Purpose Investments, a Canadian asset management firm, has submitted a proposal to launch an XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF). The company filed a preliminary prospectus with regulatory authorities in Canada to introduce the proposed spot ETF.
Purpose Investments to Launch XRP ETF
The Toronto-based investment firm has presented a preliminary prospectus to securities regulators for the Purpose Ripple $2 ETF. With approximately $23 billion in managed assets, the firm is preparing to launch the world’s first XRP ETF.
Som Seif, founder of Purpose Investments, articulated the company’s vision of offering Ripple products. Seif stated, “As Purpose, we remain committed to bridging innovation with traditional finance and decentralized finance. With XRP’s growing adoption and institutional interest, we believe an ETF can provide a transparent and familiar access point for investors within a regulated framework.”
Purpose Investments focuses on merging traditional finance with emerging decentralized finance and blockchain technology. The platform also aims to make the benefits of cryptocurrencies accessible worldwide.
Will the US Approve an XRP ETF?
The possibility of an XRP ETF in the US has been a topic of discussion due to the ongoing Ripple-SEC lawsuit. Judge Analisa Torres has ruled in favor of Ripple twice, but a final resolution of the case is still awaited. Purpose Investments’ recent move has intensified speculation about a potential XRP ETF launch in the US.
Monica Long, President of Ripple Labs, indicated that a spot ETF might be “possible” during Donald Trump’s administration. Trump’s pro-crypto policies and Gary Gensler’s resignation have fostered optimism regarding Ripple’s case, paving the way for Ripple ETF approval.
Recent developments include Grayscale filing form 19b-4 with the NYSE to convert its existing XRP Trust into a public ETF, and speculation that BlackRock may also file an ETF application for XRP.
Purpose Investments’ XRP ETF application is viewed as a significant step toward integrating crypto assets with traditional investment vehicles. Market participants anticipate that such ETFs could facilitate easier access to digital assets and enhance investor confidence. The growing institutional interest in XRP may increase the likelihood of approval for such products.
