In these days when the interest in the cryptocurrency market continues to grow, significant developments keep occurring. Accordingly, the collectible items producer focusing on popular culture characters, Funko, announced the release of NFT card packs in collaboration with Disney, one of the world’s largest media companies, and presented their Pop! figures on the WAX blockchain network for users to enjoy.
Funko and Disney Collaboration
Funko Pop! are well-known physical collectible items, famous for their small size and bobblehead figures. Many of these products attract collectors’ attention, with some figures finding buyers for up to $100,000 in the secondary market.
The collectible items bring together collectors with popular characters from series like Marvel, Star Wars, DC Comics, and other elements of popular culture. The toy manufacturer is also known for releasing iconic figures from popular culture, often dressed in different outfits and posing in unique ways.
Within the scope of this announced collaboration, a new Funko Digital Pop! collection series featuring Disney’s Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and other characters was introduced to users. The digital NFT card packs were launched on December 12th at 19:00. Those who purchase the NFTs will also have a chance to own a rare physical Funko Pop! figure.
Significant Statements Regarding the Collaboration
WAX’s co-founder William Quigley, in his statement about the collaboration, said despite the bear market in the crypto space, NFT technology is witnessing promising developments and added:
“Collecting digital collectibles is fun. Opening digital packs to reveal the NFTs inside is enjoyable and consumers relish this experience. The ability of Funko to link digital collectibles to physical ones enhances this enjoyment even more.”
The executive expressed his belief that the trend of traditional companies taking advantage of the Web3 space will continue and further added:
“Although some companies may have initially been spooked by the market crash, the benefits of the technology and consumer experience, exemplified by successful implementations like those offered by Funko, will bring them back.”
