XRP remains steady near $1.50 despite a flurry of significant upcoming developments expected in October. Three notable events, including Evernorth’s planned Nasdaq listing under the ticker XRPN and two potential XRP Ledger software upgrades, are drawing increased attention among institutional and retail investors alike.
Evernorth set for Nasdaq debut, ushers in regulated XRP exposure
Armada Acquisition Corp. II shareholders have approved the proposed business combination with Evernorth, clearing the way for the new entity to begin trading as XRPN on Nasdaq, with the debut scheduled for October 8. The transaction is expected to close the day before, setting up Evernorth to bring both its XRP holdings and additional capital to the public market.
At launch, Evernorth aims to hold about 473 million XRP, and the deal is set to generate approximately $300 million in gross cash proceeds. Company chief executive Asheesh Birla described the move as a landmark step toward institutional-grade access for digital asset investors, stating,
“Going public will offer investors a regulated, transparent way to own XRP exposure.”
However, XRPN shares provide indirect exposure to XRP; investors will be buying equity in Evernorth rather than the digital asset itself. This distinction is a key reason trading activity around XRP’s spot price has remained subdued in the lead-up to the listing, as market participants await clear signs that public-market access will drive higher token demand.
XRPL upgrades aim to strengthen institutional appeal
In addition to the Nasdaq debut, the XRP Ledger could see two important protocol upgrades within days if required validator support persists. PermissionDelegationV1_1 may activate as soon as October 8, allowing one account to delegate specific transaction rights to another without ceding full control. Industry observers see this as a valuable tool for organizations needing to separate operational and compliance responsibilities.
A subsequent upgrade, BatchV1_1, could follow around October 9. This feature allows grouping up to eight transactions in a single submission, paving the way for more efficient delivery-versus-payment mechanisms in tokenized assets. Ayo Akinyele, engineering lead at RippleX, noted that several projects are already preparing to utilize the Batch feature, with further updates anticipated once the upgrade is complete.
Both protocol changes are designed to bolster the XRP Ledger’s suitability for institutional adoption. However, upgrade dates are contingent on validator approval, and any decline below the threshold would reset the activation process.
Market sentiment cautious amid major catalysts
Despite these events, XRP price action displays little reaction. Whales remain on the sidelines and derivative markets point to caution rather than exuberance. Ali Martinez, a prominent crypto analyst, observed that XRP could be nearing a significant breakout, suggesting a four-hour close above the $1.53 level could pave the way for a rise towards $1.62. Still, large XRP holders have shown minimal movement over the previous week, highlighting continued hesitation.
Binance open interest in XRP derivatives currently stands at roughly $516.6 million, according to CryptoQuant analyst R3N. This is higher than the lows recorded earlier in 2026 but well below the more than $1.3 billion seen a year ago. Analysts interpret this as a signal that traders are employing less leverage and maintaining a cautious approach until clear evidence appears that these catalysts will translate into tangible shifts in demand.
Trading activity in XRP derivatives remains well below last year’s highs, underscoring a “less leveraged, more cautious” environment even as events approach that could reshape market structure.
As traders monitor these technical developments and await confirmation that new infrastructure will attract fresh investment, the importance of tracking both on-chain flows and investor strategies grows. Notably, in the rapidly evolving meme token market, an internet trend can swell into millions of dollars of activity within days. Fomo App data points to one standout instance involving the “Niu Lai” token, where a $99 investment turned into approximately $370,000. In this ecosystem, close monitoring of investor timing, token selection, and social sentiment is vital, underscored by platforms like Fomo App, which provide real-time feeds, investor leaderboards, and trade alerts for meme token enthusiasts.
