The legendary science fiction shooter game Doom, released in 1993, has begun to be stored on the Dogecoin (DOGE) Blockchain, thanks to a relatively new protocol that allows developers to store a large amount of data entirely on a Blockchain.
The Legendary ’90s Sci-Fi Game Doom Written onto the Dogecoin Blockchain
The legendary science fiction shooter game Doom, released in 1993, was among the first computer games to go viral in the ’90s. An anonymous Blockchain developer named minidogeart celebrated the game’s 30th anniversary in a unique way.
Minidogeart announced the launch of Doom on the Dogecoin Blockchain with the statement, “It is now written on the Dogecoin Blockchain forever!” This means that the game is distributed on Doginals, and all game data is completely drawn from data stored on the Dogecoin Blockchain. This version of the game relies on no other sources outside the network.
Since May, developers have been able to store artistic collections and games on the Dogecoin Blockchain. The altcoin project, which uses inscription technology, thus goes beyond being a dog-themed memecoin.
As is known, inscriptions are a technology that enables data storage on a Blockchain, paving the way for digital entries that store images, videos, audio, and text files. Inscription technology is referred to as “Doginals” on the Dogecoin Blockchain, similar to Bitcoin Ordinals, and stands out as a relatively new feature of the Blockchain ecosystem.
Dogecoin Blockchain’s Transaction Activity Rapidly Increases
Such features contribute to the foundations of a coin or token by creating evolving ecosystems on a Blockchain and contribute to price increases due to rising demand. In May 2023, the hype around Dogecoin inscriptions led to lifetime highs in transaction volumes on the network, resulting in a 10% growth in the altcoin’s price.
Although the transaction activity on the Dogecoin Blockchain cooled down last month, it has started to heat up again recently. On-chain data shows that the number of transactions, which was 90,000 at the beginning of this month, has risen to 420,000 as of today.
