Streamr, launched through crowdfunding in 2017, is a distributed open-source project aimed at replacing centralized message brokers with a global peer-to-peer network to create a decentralized infrastructure for real-time data. The DATA token is an ERC-20 token used on the Streamr platform for payments in the marketplace and powers the incentive mechanism on the Streamr Network from the Tatum milestone. There is a total supply of approximately 1 billion DATA, and it is traded on many major exchanges.
