Bitcoin price continues to persistently stay above $57,000, showing a tendency to maintain its rapid ascent. On the other hand, as Ether’s price has surpassed $3,250, optimism regarding altcoins is growing exponentially. Just a few minutes ago, the Ethereum Foundation announced the date for the critical Dencun Update.
Ethereum March Predictions
According to the announcement by the Foundation, the Dencun update will take place on March 13 at 13:55 UTC, which corresponds to 10:55 in Turkey time. The estimated time is determined based on block production speed and will be activated on the Ethereum mainnet at epoch 269568. Following last year’s Shapella upgrade, this upgrade includes various improvements such as the introduction of temporary data blobs, known as “protodanksharding” or EIP-4844, which will help reduce L2 transaction fees.
End-users do not need to do anything extra for this update. However, if you are running a node, you need to update your node’s execution and consensus layer clients to the latest shared versions to be compatible with the mainnet Dencun upgrade.
Lastly, the Ethereum Foundation wrote the following regarding the history of the name Dencun;
“Upgrades to the consensus layer use star names, while upgrades to the execution layer follow Devcon city names. ‘Dencun’ is a combination of Deneb, a first-magnitude star in the Cygnus constellation, and Cancun, the location of Devcon 3.”
