We are currently witnessing significant developments in the Worldcoin front in the cryptocurrency world. The project faces resistance from countries due to its use of iris scanning methods. This situation inevitably requires Worldcoin to find a center to carry out its operations regionally. In this context, Worldcoin made an important announcement today, declaring its decision to establish a center. So, which region will this center be for?
Worldcoin Chooses Argentina
Worldcoin announced today its decision to establish Argentina as the regional operations center for Latin America. The purpose of the move is clear: to expand Worldcoin’s presence in Argentina and Latin America. As a result of this step, Worldcoin plans to quickly move and open offices in 50 different locations across more than 10 cities in Argentina.
We all know that the Worldcoin team has been working seriously before this process. The project’s managers had a meeting with President Javier Milei in Buenos Aires at the beginning of 2024. The purpose of the move was clear. Government support was needed based on Worldcoin’s growth plans. It is possible to interpret that Worldcoin has received some support from the country’s leaders, given that they have scanned the irises of more than 500,000 Argentinians during this process.
Argentina May Become a Central Hub
Argentina is considered a center for Worldcoin in Latin America. In this context, Worldcoin also announced plans to open two educational centers in the country to provide information about technology and the project itself. Martín Mazza, one of Worldcoin’s executives, emphasized why they chose Argentina, stating that the country’s advanced technological ecosystem and highly skilled workforce made it a natural choice.
Mazza also highlighted that Buenos Aires would become a regional center for Worldcoin’s activities. In this context, the main goal is to strengthen cooperation with Argentine society and promote the development of artificial intelligence and financial inclusion in the country, as stated by Mazza.
Since the move is a Latin America-focused development, it is also noted that the project is met with interest in different countries. Accordingly, Worldcoin is rapidly gaining interest in countries like Chile, Peru, Colombia, and Mexico. It is worth remembering that Worldcoin expressed its intentions to expand in Mexico in April. Worldcoin started its operations in Mexico in July 2023.
