Coinbase exchange just added a new altcoin to its listing roadmap, and this altcoin is a popular asset. Today it is positively diverging because the token continues with double-digit gains. The reason is the token change.
MATIC Coin Rises
MATIC Coin, which announced a long time ago that it would convert to POL Token, will achieve this. We had extensively discussed the details as it represents a significant transformation. Today, the Coinbase team announced that they added the POL Token to their roadmap. This means the token will soon be listed on the exchange.
Altcoins added to the roadmap are usually listed within a week. In some cases, the process takes more than a month, and it is even possible for them to be removed from the roadmap. However, since this is about the conversion of Polygon (MATIC) token to POL Token, we can expect this listing to be done on time.
The section added to the listing roadmap page includes the following details:
“Polygon Ecosystem Token (POL) – Contract address: 0x455e53cbb86018ac2b8092fdcd39d8444affc3f6
Please note that Coinbase has added POL on the Ethereum network.”
Additionally, Coinbase wrote the following on their X account:
“Starting from August 26, we will move the Polygon ticker on the Polygon Network from MATIC to POL. Between 8/26 and 9/10, sending/receiving for MATIC on the Polygon Network will be disabled to successfully complete the ticker change from MATIC to POL. Here’s what to expect:
Polygon (MATIC) announced a transition to a new token; (POL). Coinbase will add support for POL on the Ethereum network on 9/4. Customers staking MATIC through Coinbase can continue to stake and receive rewards.
During the 8/26 – 9/10 ticker upgrade, please avoid depositing MATIC to Polygon PoS. Sending/receiving for tokens on Polygon will also be disabled during the update: VOXEL, USDC, CBETH, and WETH.
In the coming months, Coinbase plans to complete the transition from MATIC to POL on behalf of users. We will provide details on the transition of Coinbase balances, including the timeline for the conversion, when available.
After the launch of POL ERC-20, trading for both MATIC and POL on Ethereum will continue to be supported until the next announcement.”
MATIC Coin is at $0.499 with an 11% increase at the time of writing.
