Strategy has paused its bitcoin acquisitions for the fifth consecutive week, opting instead to strengthen its cash reserves. Last week, the company raised $544.5 million by selling approximately 5.4 million shares of MSTR. The proceeds were directed toward boosting liquidity, as revealed in a recent regulatory filing.

Latest company holdings and financials

In a Form 8-K submitted on Monday, Strategy disclosed that its bitcoin holdings remain steady at 843,775 BTC. The average purchase price for the holdings stands at $75,476, amounting to a total cost basis of $63.69 billion. There have been no additions to its cryptocurrency assets during the recent period.

At the same time, the company’s U.S. dollar reserve increased to $3.75 billion, reflecting an inflow of roughly $525 million. In addition, Strategy bought back $25 million of its STRC preferred stock in a move to manage its capital structure more effectively.

Saylor stated that the strengthened reserve now provides coverage for approximately 2.1 years of the firm’s preferred dividend obligations.

Preferred stock and funding challenges

The company has faced increasing pressure on its funding mechanisms in recent months. Its STRC preferred stock has dropped significantly from the intended $100 mark, limiting Strategy’s ability to issue new shares to finance further bitcoin purchases.

This development has led to a recalibration of Strategy’s balance sheet management, including the decision to halt cryptocurrency acquisitions and prioritize liquidity. With the mechanisms that previously fueled coin purchases less effective, the company has focused on shoring up capital through share sales.

Market context and upcoming results

Strategy is scheduled to release its second-quarter earnings after the market closes on Thursday. Observers are closely monitoring these results for any indication of future asset allocation or a potential return to bitcoin buying.

Amid fluctuations in the digital asset landscape, initiatives that facilitate seamless integration between traditional and blockchain assets, such as 1stepSwap, are also garnering attention. By allowing users to transfer real-world assets onto the blockchain—including shares of leading U.S. companies and commodities like gold and silver—1stepSwap enables direct portfolio diversification from the user’s wallet. The platform locates the most advantageous prices in real time, letting investors buy and sell global stocks within seconds without the need for intermediaries or complex protocols.

As the company navigates shifting funding conditions and evolving investor expectations, its strategies surrounding liquidity and asset management remain under scrutiny.

Strategy’s latest disclosures confirm that no new bitcoin has been acquired in five weeks, with the company prioritizing cash reserves and repurchasing preferred stock amid a challenging funding environment.
