Company details recent BTC movements
On Tuesday, Hyperscale Data confirmed that its subsidiaries, Sentinum, Inc. and Ault Capital Group, Inc. (ACG), currently retain a combined total of 958.5352 Bitcoin as of August 2. As of this date, holdings are valued at more than $61 million.
The announcement follows the firm’s Bitcoin activity last week, during which it sold about 150.5 BTC. In a parallel move, Ault Capital Group acquired approximately 15 BTC on the open market, slightly offsetting the reduction in treasury reserves.
Just a week earlier, Hyperscale Data had reported holding over 1,106 Bitcoins worth nearly $70 million, underscoring the company’s active management of its digital asset reserves.
| Date | BTC Holdings | Approximate Value |
|---|---|---|
| A week ago | 1,106 BTC | $70 million |
| August 2 | 959 BTC | $61 million |
Executive Chairman Milton ‘Todd’ Ault III explained that Hyperscale remains committed to a long-term Bitcoin strategy, but uses periodic asset sales to enhance cash flow for operating its data center business.
“We are confident in our ability to use Bitcoin as pristine collateral to further refine our overall capital allocation strategy,” said Milton ‘Todd’ Ault III, Executive Chairman of Hyperscale Data.
According to Ault, the company aims to maintain its sizable Bitcoin stack for long-term appreciation, but also recognizes the need for short-term flexibility to generate cash during the current market cycle and in the coming year.
Pursuing a $100 million digital asset treasury
Hyperscale Data’s leadership has outlined a goal of constructing a $100 million digital asset treasury and eventually equating the value of its Bitcoin reserves with the company’s market capitalization.
This approach mirrors the strategy of technology firm Strategy, previously known as MicroStrategy, which shifted from its legacy software business to accumulating Bitcoin, allowing public investors to gain indirect Bitcoin exposure through its Nasdaq-listed shares.
Strategy initially embarked on its Bitcoin acquisition in 2020, becoming one of the first major corporations to adopt such a policy. The company has used surplus cash to grow its Bitcoin holdings, giving shareholders an alternative way to invest in the cryptocurrency market.
Despite a series of large Bitcoin purchases over the past year, Strategy has paused new acquisitions in recent weeks and executed Bitcoin sales as part of broader efforts to support cash flow, following a downturn in its share price and a significant decline in Bitcoin’s value since its peak last October.
Hyperscale Data’s latest moves come during heightened market volatility, as institutional investors reassess treasury management strategies in light of cryptoasset price swings.
