MetaMask has introduced Agent Wallet, an on-chain self-custodial wallet developed to enable AI agents to execute cryptocurrency transactions under strict user-defined rules. This new feature comes as the company expands its portfolio of tools designed for advanced crypto trading powered by artificial intelligence.

Focus on AI-driven trading

Agent Wallet targets traders and developers interested in leveraging AI-driven monitoring and automation across major blockchains. Users can specify spending limits, manage protocol allowlists, and select detailed security settings, granting agents the ability to perform transactions autonomously within these defined restrictions.

MetaMask stated that the wallet supports a range of AI agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenClaw, Hermes, and OpenCode. It is compatible with both Hyperliquid and Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) networks, enabling broader adoption among decentralized finance participants.

The wallet’s gas abstraction feature allows network fees to be paid with the digital asset being transferred, removing the need to hold the underlying chain’s native token. MetaMask explained that this adjustment streamlines both agent activity and user experience across multiple blockchains.

Agents can transfer and swap assets without holding a chain’s native token for gas; MetaMask settles network fees in the token being moved, removing a key hurdle for AI-driven crypto trading.

Advanced security and transaction controls

To improve safety, MetaMask employs a security model in Agent Wallet that enforces permissions at the wallet level. Agents are only authorized to act within boundaries preset by the user, significantly minimizing potential risks associated with autonomous trading.

All eligible transactions processed through Agent Wallet go through a multilayer protection system: transaction simulation, threat scanning, and protection against malicious MEV (Miner Extractable Value) events. These measures are intended to provide greater transparency and reduce the likelihood of successful attacks.

This security-first framework positions Agent Wallet as a solution built around strict rules rather than unrestricted delegation, ensuring every step is controlled within user-established boundaries.

MetaMask offers Transaction Protection coverage of up to $10,000 per month for transactions that pass security checks yet experience losses. This added safeguard aims to build trust among users seeking automated trading without sacrificing security.

Industry momentum and broader market tools

MetaMask’s initiative follows similar developments by other firms in the sector. Coinbase introduced its own Agentic Wallets earlier this year, while MoonPay rolled out its MoonAgents platform on Telegram in July, reflecting growing competition in AI-driven infrastructure.

As AI continues to play a larger role in market analysis and trading automation, integrated financial tools are gaining importance. For example, monitoring technical setups and potential opportunities often requires instant market signals. Platforms like CryptoAppsy, which do not require account creation, combine real-time prices, advanced charts, and multi-currency portfolio management into a unified interface. With this type of financial assistant, users set up tailored price alerts, track relevant news, discover new altcoins at launch, and monitor essential macroeconomic indicators such as Fed interest rates—all critical as traders increasingly rely on automation and AI for their strategies.
